Lynda Carter
Carter was born in Phoenix as the daughter of Juanita (nee Cordova) and Colby Carter. Her mother, who hails from Mexico, is Mexican, Spanish and French. One brother, Vincent, and one sister, Pamela, are her siblings. Carter was five years old when she was the first public TV star to make her debut at Lew King's Talent Show. Carter joined a band called Just Us in high school. The band used a marimba, conga drums an acoustic bass and stand-up basses. One girl from the group also played guitar. Lynda began singing at a local pizzeria at the age of 15. After age 16, Lynda was a member of two cousins in forming another group, The Relatives. Gary Burghoff, actor, was the drummer of The Relatives. The band performed at the Sahara Hotel and Casino lounge in Las Vegas for three months since Carter was under 21 she was required to go through the kitchen.Carter was a student at Arizona State University. She was voted "Most Talented" and decided to go into the world of music. Carter was a candidate for The Garfin Gathering in 1970. She then went on tour together with Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first performance together was at Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel that had no sidewalk entrance. They performed mostly for hotel staff and guests who parked their cars underground. The Garfin Gathering toured the Nevada "Silver Circuit", playing shows in most of Nevada's casinos and lounges that were located between Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Reno, and Las Vegas. Carter quit the Garfin Gathering to pursue acting in 1972 and returned to Arizona.
