Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football with volunteering for the community. He is the youngest child from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Semon. They took care of him at the family farm near Eufala. A second reason was his father was the only of three brothers to play with Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in across the country. For the three seasons that Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. He received a third scholarship in 1975 and named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy's fourth time of service consisted of ten hours a week as a volunteer in college. After graduation, he moved into Tampa and played for nine years for the Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro 3 times. He then began his professional career. He was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the Ten of America's top young men. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He was captain of his college team in 1975. In 1993, Roy joined the university of south Florida's sports department as the associate director. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
